October updates

Dear Parkshore Residents,

We seem to be experiencing some technical difficulties with the attachment for the irrigation/aeration sign ups. The group shut off is scheduled for next weekend Saturday October 18 and Sunday October 19. Please call Frances directly @ 740-816-1464 if you are not able to sign up on the web .

The Parkshore Halloween Hayride will be on Saturday October 25 from 11:30 – 1:30 . Mike Chiappi will be around the neighborhood to pick you up ( if you live on Spinnaker please drive over to the other entrance as the tractor can not drive on Lewis Center road to access Spinnaker) The hayride will stop at 6335 Highgate place where you can enjoy cookies , cider , coffee , and goodie bags for the kids that Jeanne has made for all to enjoy. We ask that parents please ride with your children . We hope to see everyone there. In case of rain we will re schedule for the same time on Sunday.

Remember beggars night is Thursday October 30th from 6-8.

Fall Newsletter

Dear Parkshore Residents,

I hope you have had the opportunity to get outside and enjoy the beautiful fall weather. We hope to have the hayride again this year for the children and adults to enjoy. More details will follow as we get closer to the event.

Beggar’s Night (Trick or Treat)

Orange Township Trustees have voted to change trick or treat to Thursday, October 30th this year. The trick or treat hours will be from 6-8 pm. This was a township decision and not a Parkshore decision. Any concerns you may have can be directed to Orange Township.

Directory

We will be sending our Parkshore directory to be printed at the end of the week so if you need to make any corrections please email us immediately at mpeirce@peircecentral.com. We will be mailing out the new directory in the next few weeks as soon as it is back from the printers. I would like to personally thank Michael Peirce for all of his efforts in compiling all of the data and setting up the program for the directory. It was a very time consuming process.

Group Discount on Irrigation Winterization and Lawn Aeration

Hidden Springs is again partnering with Parkshore to offer us a group discount for lawn aeration and winterization of irrigation systems. Our group irrigation shut off is scheduled for Saturday October 18 and Sunday October 19. There will be 20 available spots each day for irrigation services. If you are unable to schedule on either date call Frances @ 740-816-1464 and she will find out alternate availability during Monday-Friday hours.

The cost is $50 for either service or $100 for both. There is an additional cost if your yard is larger than 120×80 feet. Aeration services need to be pre-paid as Hidden Springs will return to aerate after irrigation systems are shut down. If you choose aeration services only you will not need to be at home when they come to perform this service, simply tape a check to your front door on October 18th and Hidden Springs will collect it.

As always if you have any suggestions or concerns just contact any trustee.

Summer Events

Dear Parkshore Residents,
I just wanted to send out this reminder for our upcoming July Events.
Flamingo Friday will start at 7pm this Friday July 25th on Buckman Street.
The BBQ and Pool Party will be on Sunday July 27th at the Conklin residence 6340 Buckman Street. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Your HOA will be providing hamburgers, hotdogs, and lemonade . The fun starts at 4pm we hope to see you there.

We are in the final stages of our new directory if you would like your information included please email webmaster@parkshorehoa.org We will only include names and addresses of Parkshore Residents if no information is provided. The directory is for Parkshore Residents personal use only .

I have received numerous complaints about parking on both sides of the street. This is a dangerous situation. Emergency vehicles may not be able to get through in which case they would be forced to drive in your yards . It is also very difficult to see children playing . We would prefer not to have no parking street signs installed as the Shores have had to do but if this continues we will have no choice. Thank you in advance for your help with this problem.

Orange Township has informed me that we are on the paving schedule for the week of August 18. This is weather permitting. For the most updated information please visit the Delaware County Website and click on road projects. Buckman ,Greeley,Montclair, and Spinnaker will be paved . When paving they will close 1 lane of the road at a time.
We hope to see everyone this week at our summer events.

Parkshore Trustees

Summer Events

Dear Parkshore Residents,

Rumpke will return on Monday June 2 to pick up the yard bags that were missed on Fridays pick up. if you need to get in touch with them their direct number is 1-800-828-8171.

We will kick off our Flamingo Fridays this month starting with Highgate Place on 6/20. Buckman will host on 7/25 and we will finish up the summer with Westwick on 8/22. Flamingo Friday is a fun family event no RSVP needed just bring your favorite beverage and a lawn chair your HOA will provide cheese and crackers for the adults and ice cream for the kids or adults.

Our annual BBQ/Pool Party will be hosted by the Conklins 6340 Buckman Street on 7/27 from 4-8 please bring a side dish to share HOA provides hamburgers , hotdogs and water. Thank you to Dale and Carol for hosting this 5th year event. It is a lot of work to get everything set up and we appreciate all that they both do.

It has been brought to my attention that there has been once again vandalism in the neighborhood since school has been out. No matter how small you may think an incident may be please report all occurrences to the Delaware Sheriff @ 740-833-2810. This is the non emergency number where they will be able to take your report. It is important to file reports because if there is nothing on record they can not justify when I ask for extra patrol in our neighborhood. As always if you think something doesn’t look right just call they are happy to help. If you are planning a summer vacation the Delaware Sheriff also offers a drive by vacation watch where they will try to drive past your house as time permits each shift. Let’s watch out for our fellow neighbors and have a safe summer!

Frances Catanese

Our annual wine party will be this Saturday, April 26 . Kathleen Hadder will be our hostess please bring an appetizer and beverage to share. Kathleen lives At 6294 Highgate Place and the party starts at 7 pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

Our annual Garage Sale with the Shores will be next weekend May 2 & 3. We will be placing an ad in the newspaper with directions. Most residents tie balloons onto their mailbox to let the shoppers know they are participating.

Spring is a great time to evaluate your mailbox. We provide stain so please call any trustee to pick up a stain kit for your mailbox.

With the warmer weather please remember to slow down. Children will be playing and people will be walking.

The next newsletter will have our summer event schedule. If you have a new neighbor please give them our website so they can take advantage of all the activities we offer.

Spring newsletter

Dear Parkshore Residents,

Judging from all the rain I think spring has finally arrived and we can safely put away our snow shovels. We will be having our annual wine tasting party on Saturday April 26. Kathleen Hadder will be our hostess this year. Please plan to bring an appetizer or dessert to share along with a bottle of wine or another beverage. The party will begin at 7 pm at 6294 Highgate Place. This is an over 21 event please.

We will be holding our annual garage sale with the Shores on Friday May 2 and 3rd. There is no fee to participate the HOA pays all advertising costs. The scheduled time is 9-2 but you are welcome to adjust the hours. We also would like to have an Easter egg hunt if anyone is willing to volunteer their yard please contact Frances at 740-816-1464 if you are willing to host this event.

I received some good news at the last township meeting. Buckman, Greeley, Montclair and Spinnaker will be repaved when weather permits . This has been a 2 year on going process. Carol, Jamie and I worked closely with trustee Debbie Taranto to achieve this.

Lastly I would like to ask that after garbage collection please pick up any items that may have blown into your yard or that Rumpke may have missed. When residents leave it for the next pickup it detracts from our beautiful neighborhood to see trash laying around. Thank you for your cooperation.

Regards,

Frances Catanese
President Parkshore HOA

2014 Annual Meeting minutes

Annual Meeting
February 22, 2014 10am
Orange Township Hall

Trustees were all in attendance

  • Michael Peirce
  • Dale Conklin
  • Carol Conklin
  • Frances Catanese
  • Amy Lloyd

Meeting opened with Michael Peirce discussing the new website and features.  The new site provides the opportunity for homeowners to add or update themselves allowing us to keep current on email addresses.  The new site will reduce the cost by eliminating the need to pay a hosting fee.  The only remaining cost will be the domain name retention fee of approximately $15/year. The work by Michael and his wife Kathleen is much appreciated and the new site looks great.

Next was a financial review by Steve Ginter.  The financial summary was distributed to all attending homeowners.  The ending balance for 2013 was $2,748.01 more than projected.  This was primarily due to lower cost of lawn services. Mr. Zuelke asked what the board felt was the right amount to hold?  He felt that the current amount, approximately 1.5x the dues was accurate, but if it increased beyond 2X then we should consider adjusting annual dues.  Both Dale and Amy offered examples of potential needs in the next year or two, including work on the retention pond bordering Waukeegan and Buckman homes, that will dip into the reserves and the work on the pipes and signs at the entrance.  After some discussion, Mr. Zuelke said he was satisfied with the explanation and agreed with the current decision to maintain dues as is.

Frances discussed the paving that has been promised by Orange Township and she has an email from Debbie Taranto – Orange Twp. Board member that we will be first on the list for paving this year.

The trustees are going to publish an updated directory and ask that if you want your email and phone number included you send an email with that information.  Otherwise, only your name and address will be included.  We talked about the potential of keeping it updated on the website and will discuss the option to password protect that section to only homeowners.

Events for 2014:

Looking for a volunteer to host an Easter Egg Hunt?  If you are interested please contact Frances Catanese

Kathleen Hadder will host the annual Wine Party this year on April 26th.  Please bring a bottle of wine and an appetizer to share.

Mr. Ginter asked about replacing the tree in the circle on Highgate.  Mike Chiappi has agreed to spearhead this operation and the trustees have approved funds for tree replacement.  The board would also like to thank Jamie Stabl for all of his help in beatification of the neighborhood.  He has helped plant flowers and do clean up at the entrance many times.  Michael Peirce said that he has stain kits made up for mailboxes if anyone needs one see him.  The stain is non-standard and can be difficult to locate.  The board purchased a gallon and made up kits for homeowners. The stain kit is at no cost to the home owner.

The meeting moved to voting for 3 open positions; Frances Catanese, Carol Conklin and Amy Lloyd.  All three board members expressed interest in remaining on the board in addition to two other  homeowners expressed interest in becoming trustees; Mike Henn and Lori Henn.   Mike Henn talked about his desire to get involved now that he was more familiar with neighborhood and suggested that he would like to do more to help new homeowners by creating a welcome packet. Lori also said she would like to get more involved.

Michael Peirce passed out ballots, voting was 1 per household.  He also tallied the votes with all three current board members retaining their seats.  Each term is for two years.

Mr. Henn offered to take on developing a welcome committee/kit.

Last discussion was the domestic geese that have invaded the pond.  They are noisy and becoming a nuisance.  They chase many of the small children in the area and becoming more aggressive.  Mr. Stabl spoke with the DNR who indicated that unless we could find the people responsible for bringing them here, we couldn’t do anything about removing them.  We could destroy any nests to prevent the increase in population.  One homeowner indicated that he thought someone was feeding them, but didn’t know who.  The trustees agreed to try and find out who brought them here, so we could ask that they be moved before further problems.

There was no further business and the meeting adjourned at 10:45am.
